"I share my story because I continue to believe that this practice does help in healing. I have had two shoulder surgeries (on the same shoulder) within a 5 year period. My first surgery was a severed rotator cuff and a torn bicep (on my right shoulder, folks and I am a righty) My second surgery was a torn rotator cuff.(once again, on the same shoulder) With both surgeries I was "informed" that I would never regain full range of motion in my right shoulder and to "just hope for the best." I continue to incorporate Bikram Yoga as part of my rehabilitation because I believe it does help in helping me regain and maintain my right shoulder strength. I also leave feeling 145% better than I did meeting my mat at class!!! ( I just threw that 145% to see if anyone was paying attention! Which I hope you have to this point because who doesn't leave feeling better after practice? Mentally? Physically?) My range of motion has managed to astound my PT who reminds me frequently that I have had TWO repairs on the same shoulder but I have managed to beat the odds. My simple goal: To try to do every posture to the best of MY ability and isn't that what this yoga practice is all about?"
"Just a quick update to let you know the physical changes my Dr recently observed in me: I've lost 30 lbs, my cholesterol has dropped from about 200 to 152 my blood pressure routinely at 130/90 is now 127/75....yes I am eating better and with more control, but your hot yoga class has been an integral part of my improvement.... Many Thanks...."
